GENEROSITY

Part 2: LEGACY DECISIONS

(Psalm 90:12 NIV) Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

(Mark 10:45 NIV) Jesus, “I did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.”

Two Ways to Create a Legacy

  • Living a life of ___________.

(Ephesians 2:10 NCV) God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.

  • Living a life of ______________.

(Deuteronomy 15:10 MSG) Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God’s blessing in everything you do, in all your work and ventures.

Legacy Decisions

  1. Choose ________ over ______________.

(Acts 20:24 NIV) However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.

2. Choose ____________ over  ____________.

(Proverbs 14:30 CEV) It’s healthy to be content, but envy will eat you up.

(Luke 12:15 LB) Don’t always be wishing for what you don’t have.  For real life and real living are not related to how rich we are.

(Psalm 17:15 LB) But as for me, my contentment is not in wealth but in seeing you and knowing all is well between us. And when I awake in heaven, I will be fully satisfied, for I will see you face-to-face.

3. Choose ____________ over ____________.

(2 Chronicles 29:10-14 NIV) Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours…Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all…But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

(Luke 16:11-13 NLT) And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own? “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

4. Choose ___________ over ______________.

(John 12:1-8 NKJV) Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.  For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”

5. Choose ___________ over ___________.

(2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT) You must make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure.

The Promise: __________________________.

(2 Corinthians 9:6) Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
