We know what you’re thinking.

You like the people in your group. You’ve gotten to know them and have strong relationships built and established. You’re comfortable and don’t like the idea of starting again from scratch.

Growing and multiplying is our mission and vision. While it may seem to be hard to do, these tips can help you successfully multiply your group

  • We don’t maintain, we multiply. This value is part of our church DNA. As we continue to grow as a church and reach more people, we must increase the number of groups available for the community our church is reaching. Talk about multiplication early in the season. Plant the seeds of growth in your discussions so that your group isn’t surprised when the time comes to multiply.
  • Groups don’t end, they grow and multiply. One important perspective to change in your thinking and language to your group is that groups don’t end, they multiply. Just because you multiply the group doesn’t mean the relationships you’ve built are ending. The relationship will look different, but you can still be friends and involved in the lives of the people in your group.
  • Recognize and raise up a co-leader. As a group leader, we quickly identify who is ready to take their next step in becoming a Discovery group leader. The earlier you identify, the easier it will be to multiply.
  • Divide and conquer strategically. The best way to strategically multiply a group is to quickly identify a co-leader. Then have the co-leader take on more responsibility each week, such as calling group members, leading the group discussion, or praying with group members. Then direct the co-leader to attend Discovery Tracks and Discovery Group leader orientation. As the church grows, it is important to empower new leaders to help care for the people God is bringing through the doors of Discovery. This has proven successful in keeping and establishing relationships while opening new opportunities for people to join  groups
